What We Do

Turning Barriers Into Gateways For Adventure

Our Core Program: Adaptive Equipment Grants

We provide financial grants to families for outdoor and recreational equipment tailored to their child’s unique medical needs. This might include:

  • Off-road wheelchairs and all-terrain strollers
  • Oxygen-compatible hiking gear
  • Mobility ramps and inclusive swing sets
  • Pool lifts and adaptive flotation gear
  • Beach chairs and accessible bike trailers

These tools aren’t just gear—they’re gateways to experience, joy, and connection.

Who We Serve

We serve local families with medically fragile children—those living with complex medical conditions, developmental delays, or physical disabilities. These families often face:

  • Financial constraints that make adaptive equipment out of reach
  • Logistical barriers to participating in outdoor activities
  • Emotional and social isolation from traditional recreational experiences

We also support caregivers and siblings, knowing that whole-family adventures build stronger bonds and lasting memories.

Why This Matters

Outdoor play is more than fun—it’s therapy. It strengthens mental health, encourages social connection, and reminds families that joy is still possible, even in the face of medical challenges.

But without access to the right tools and support, many families are excluded from these basic experiences.

That’s where we come in.

The Gwen Difference

Unlike national organizations that provide one-time trips or vacation experiences, we empower families with ownership of equipment—so they can keep exploring again and again. Our local model means we stay in touch, offer follow-up support, and create personal connections with every family we serve.

A Life of Adventures, One Family at a Time

We believe that every child deserves more than a wish.
They deserve a life full of fresh air, muddy boots, belly laughs, and unforgettable moments.

Let’s help them get there—together.
